Tinker Bell

Tinker Bell10.0101

Tinker Bell (also known as Tinkerbell in common usage, or Tink for short), is a fictional character from J. M. Barrie’s 1904 play and 1911 novel Peter and Wendy. Tinker Bell has also appeared in multiple film and television adaptations of the story, in particular the 1953 animated Walt Disney picture Peter Pan. Tinker Bell also appears in the official sequel Peter Pan in Scarlet by Geraldine McCaughrean and commissioned by Great Ormond St Hospital as well as the “Peter and the Starcatchers” book series by Ridley Pearson and Dave Barry. At first only a supporting character described by her creator as “a common fairy”, Tinker Bell’s animated incarnation was a hit and has since become a widely recognized unofficial mascot of The Walt Disney Company, and the centerpiece of its Disney Fairies media franchise including the direct-to-DVD film Tinker Bell.

Tinker Bell DVD’s and Blue-ray

In Sir James M. Barrie’s original play, Tinker Bell is traditionally staged as a flying point of light beamed from offstage. Animator Marc Davis’ personification of her as a winged pixie with a very womanly figure was widely criticized as too sexually suggestive by Barrie purists, especially after it was rumored that she was modeled after actress Marilyn Monroe. Tink was actually modeled after Margaret Kerry, the actress who performed her live-action reference.
